Resources for Hoosier Job-Seekers

Today, as we spend time with our families on a holiday established to honor the achievements of the American worker, I wanted to share some resources with Hoosiers in Northwest Indiana who are looking for work.

For the last seven summers, I have crisscrossed our state hosting job fairs to connect local job-seekers with employment opportunities. This August, there were record turnouts at the fairs—another reminder of the hill we still must climb to regrow our economy and generate new jobs for middle-class families in communities throughout our state.

For those of you who were unable to attend my job fair in Hammond last month, below you will find links that offer assistance to job-seekers. I’ve included sites that offer help to those trying to navigate the difficult job market, as well as education and training opportunities for Hoosiers looking to sharpen their skills.

The federal government must do more to keep taxes low and foster a climate conducive to economic growth. As Congress debates important issues like health care reform and energy policy this fall, I pledge to keep my eye on the ball and stay focused on the single most important issue facing our state: job creation.
